EYE ON THE SKY: SATURN IN MULA NAKSHATRA (Sag. 0-13.20) Jan. 26-June 20th
Saturn moves into Sagittarius and the constellation of Mula owned by Ketu on Jan. 26th for 5 months now until it retrogrades back into Scorpio. Mula consists of nine stars at the end of Scorpio and is the place of the center of the galaxy which Western Astrologers are fond of calling the Galactic Center as that wonderful part of the sky that looks like a white river in the night sky. Mula means “root” or “the center” and people who have a sun, moon or ascendent lord in this constellation are very direct and do not like to beat around the bush. This is the core of the galaxy and it is ruled by Ketu who wants to get to the core of everything: hidden motives, events, core roots.
Saturn in this constellation will not let people escape their past which means a lot of old trauma from childhood may come up for healing. The key is to take responsibility for the messes that you have made and clean them. Go out there and call people that you have injured and re-adress old hurts.
The first part of the transit through Feb. 6th is particularly intense but at its highest it can cause a spiritual awakening so use the emotional churning to learn a new meditation practice or take a spiritual retreat or knowledge class. Avoid being hard on yourself or you can turn into your own enemy. Beating yourself up for the past it is a waste of time so move into the present moment and use this time for healing. The first part of the transit through March 16th can stir up the air element and lead to rushing around. The mind may seem all over the place wanting to do too much and getting nothing done. The key will be to focus. Use the Warrior post and Mars to ground Saturn and focus on your task. The chair pose or deep knee bends will activate the Base Chakra (Muladara Chakra) and ground you. Avoid getting sidetracked and you will succeed.
Ketu is connected to past lives and Mula wants to tie up all the talents from one’s past lives and bring them together. It seeks deeply for the truth of existence. The diety of Mula is Nritti, the Goddess of calamity and yet she resides in the lucky sign of Sagittarius which mythical means she may destroy ignorance to reveal deep truths.
Ironically, Nritti is connected to the peak of material achievement and yet the nature of this nakshatra is very spiritual in her quest to go beyond the domain of ego and self-centeredness. Will be interested to see if our politicians change with this transit. This star can give power and influence and great material accomplishment and can confer magical powers but often it releases its energy in an explosive manner–which is so true of Ketu. The 9/11 disaster occurred during the Ketu/Mars conjunction in this constellation. Hence it has a dreadful nature in bringing out the most explosive and darkest side of Ketu which means blowing up the material can point and force one to the spiritual. Past transits through this area of the zodiac in Jan-Feb. 1988, lead to a lot of natural disasters and boating accidents so be careful. Mars in Uttarbhadapada (Pegasus/Andromeda) is not helping matters giving negative synergy to Saturn until Feb. 11th.
Still Saturn is finally in Sagittarius and connected more to Jupiter so it combines the energy of Jupiter and Ketu and hence it initiates spiritual transformations for the better. With Jupiter’s grace it can confer magical powers to help those in need with Grace. Time to get back to church or the temple as God’s grace will now be there to support you through this big transition.
This transit will impact you most if you are Capricorn or Aquarius rising or running a Saturn period or subperiod or paricularly Saturn/Ketu or Ketu/Saturn or if you have planets at 0-5 degees Sagittarius. Again astro-charts are like reading DNA strands and our general description is meant to give you an overview but its impact on your chart is very specific.
