EYE IN THE SKY: JUPITER AT 29 DEGREES VIRGO
We are reprinting our article on Jupiter retrograde in case you missed it: Jupiter is the big dog in the sky that everyone loves and it is very powerful now but its energy is changing today. Jupiter is retrograde now Feb. 6th into June 9th in the sign of Virgo and the constellation of Spica (Chitra). It is at 29th degree and stays there until Feb. 11th. When it is at the last degree of a sign it is a bit unsettled–like a person changing jobs, moving or changing relationships. Still, it will not go into Libra until Sept. 12th. It still may feel that the issues you have around Virgo may feel a bit unsettled and in flux as you prepare to revisit them over the next 5 months.
Jupiter is very powerful in the sky 5 days before an after station so still very powerful until Feb. 11th and it is a powerful week of expansion, good luck and for wisdom and this will be felt mostly on Wednesday-Friday of this week with Mercury being squared by Jupiter and exchanging signs,
Still, Jupiter is at the 29th degree where it can be a bit unsettled. My friend Juliana Swanson of astral harmony has noted the significance of the 29th degree: “The 29th degree in astrology is often called the critical, karmic or fated degree. In western terms it is anaretic which means “that which destroys form,” and is often associated with some sense of not being able to see one’s way forward. It is at the end of the sign which can mean that certain of the associated planetary qualities are feeling used up, frustrated or at the end of their rope. It can also seem like moving toward a new possibility with some relief.”
But because it is slowing down to go retrograde, the new beginning will not quite happen and it may create frustration as a turning point for something new will get delayed and then Jupiter matters may slow down until June.
The slowdown is happening in the constellation of Spica know in Vedic astrology as Chitra and ruled by Mars and having a very material and sexual energy. This particular pada (Virgo 26.40-30.00) is very powerful where order, maturity and discipline where the energy whats to conclude what it has begun but the Jupiter will turn retrograde and force it to repeat or delay. We have written about Jupiter in Spica already. (see: https://www.appliedvedicastrology.com/jupiter-in-virgochitra-the/ ) This constellation supports invention and manifesting the material and Jupiter’s station this week will be very powerful for creating this week.
From a perspective of financial astrology, Jupiter retrograde Feb-June may slow marketing in business and it also can slow economic expansion so by the time 1st and 2nd quarter GDP comes out in July, we will see the economy slow. It is also a time for slower marketing so if you are a businessman, take this next week until Feb. 6th to push through and get your marketing projects done and in place as there will be delays over the coming months. Sometimes the stock market will peak around Jupiter station into the week of Feb. 6th and then congest and retrace but there are always many factors around this for prediction. We are not seeing a crash but a correction. (To get a trial of our financial reports, visit www.commoditytimers.com )
If you were born with Jupiter retrograde in your chart, then when it goes retrograde in transit, it will trigger your issues. People born with Jupiter retrograde will be motivated to to win back things they have lost so business people may get hit by more refund requests or calling in loans or rebate requests. Jupiter governs husbands and male relationship so women may start feeling like they could do better with their spouse and think about trading them in. Jupiter retrograde can be lazy, over-optimistic, and thus miss opportunities so make sure you use the Mars opposition energy into late Feb. to just do it and not wait. Jupiter may become too generous and reach out to help abandoned or rejected people and projects and so be sure to evaluate whether you really have the time to put out this effort–though always a good one. The good news is that Jupiter in Virgo is practical so it will be easier to make better decisions.
Jupiter is connected to the liver which has over 700 major functions in the body and can be slowed by this transit particularly if you have this combination in your natal chart or have a tendency toward liver problems. Make sure to drink warm water with a fresh squeezed lemon every morning which is the best way to keep your liver toned up. May be a good month for a liver cleanse if you can handle it. Avoid taxing your liver by overeating or eating very complicated fatty foods. Jupiter also has connections to the pancreas so will be important not to eat too many sweets or over-indulge and weak Saturn continues to push us toward relief and our food cravings may get out of hand.
The spinal twist is a key posture for the next 5 months as it supports the liver and you may need to do the cow pose which also strengthens the liver. (see below). Of course make sure you get proper training from these poses from a qualified yoga instructor and do not strain.
