EYE ON THE SKY: JUPITER IN VIRGO RETROGRADE–MUSINGS ON THE COLORS OF CREATION
I think most of the astrology that I have learned has been from scientific observation. Â What is happening in my life; what are my thoughts and emotions; what is happening objectively.
Jupiter is considered in detriment in Virgo according to Western astrologers because it is 7 houses away from Pisces. I suspect that viewpoint really does not do justice to the power of Jupiter as it supports its own signs of Pisces and Sagittarius with powerful aspects (by sign as aspects from Jaimini Astrology rules) as dual signs aspect each other.  Jupiter uplifts whatever sign he is transits and his aspects onto Gemini (Sign aspect) , Sagittarius and Pisces not to mention Capricorn and Taurus are also uplifting those signs and houses also in transit
I was thinking deeply about Jupiter in Virgo today and the retrograde action there has been supportive for deep cleaning of my offices which have needed it badly. Â Have gotten intensely anal about clearing out dust and mold and dog hair and shampooing rugs and filing things and taking things into storage and create a Virgoesque sense of cleanliness and order. I think it is a good detriment and am enjoying my new spaces.
Jupiter retrograde is time for reevaluating one’s Gurus and teachers and that has been happening for the good in both directions.  Old Jyotish teachers are returning; ones from before when Jupiter went retrograde are being reevaluated and put on the shelf for now. A new Virgo rising Jyotish Guru has emerged.  Even my spiritual teacher of 25 years has come under Virgo’s analytical review although he could never leave my heart!  I suspect that is the real detriment of Jupiter in Virgo if we allow the analytical mind to block the heart of the Guru and being aware of that sheds light on useless thoughts that cloud the mind in transit. Jupiter in Virgo leaves me less into Piscean devotional love and spiritual by-pass but being objective and critical.  All transits and aspects of the zodiac are good. Is it a detriment or is it just a new mode of functioning? I think it is good to experience all the modes of the zodiac as Jupiter takes 12 years to transit through the zodiac. I look forward to Sept. when a deeper relationship with my Gurus will develop in Libra but for now Virgo’s analytical mind is hard at work.
I think Jupiter in Virgo is good for questing for truth and really sharpening the intellect to go deep and I think that is good thing. Â Hence it has fostered deep intellectual queries into the nature of human nature and the universe. I think the Renaissance of my astrological posts are a beneficiary of Jupiter in Virgo.
I think we have see all signs and constellations and transits as good. Its like going to Baskin and Robbins and having a choice of 32 flavors of ice cream.  Its good to experience the diversity and different flavors every year.  I think good and bad are irrelevant questions. It is delighting and owning all the flavors of creation as your very own.  Next time you go into the ice cream store, ask for a taste of all of them as they all belong to you. In the same way, all the transits through every part of the zodiac are neither good nor bad–they are just flavors of the universe. Enjoy them all as they allow us to experience the wonders and variety of the universe and its wonderful diversity–a beautiful mosaic and tapestry to the Divine Artisan.
