MERCURY IN ARIES WITH MARS IN GEMINI: PARIVARTNA YOGA
Once in a while, we get what Western astrologers call a mutual reception or exchange of signs, and in Vedic astrology, it is known as a Parivatartana Yoga (abbreviated PVY). It can be very powerful and allows a connection and association between the signs involved, and it is often stronger than a planetary aspect. With Mars in Gemini now and Mercury going into Mars’s sign of Aries from March 31 to June 7th, and Mars in Gemini until May 10th, we have 40 days of this phenomenon. The result is like having Mars in Aries again and Mercury in Gemini a bit early as it is not officially there until June 24, 2023. Planets always appreciate being in dignity.
What does it mean? Mars and Mercury are the most bitter enemies because Mars needs to act and Mercury needs to think, and the two together get into verbal fighting matches. At best, it may create quick-witted speaking, strength in technical and mechanical, and medical work, and being quick to solve problems. I often find in finance it may lead to deals and corporate takeovers. Mars is a bit exaggerated with its energy now because it is out of bounds until April 4th, and in Gemini, it can have more sexual energy. It will create extremely argumentative energy, a bit deceitful, and this is augmented by Rahu in Aries. It may be a bit roguishly enchanting, flattering, and flirtatious and not being aware of boundaries. On the positive side, it may show signs of being outrageously funny and sarcastic and not concerned entirely about hurting someone’s feelings. All of this energy will get exaggerated with the exchange of signs.
The dark side of Mars/Mercury associations is that it creates angry moods, slow deliberate thinking, strong achievement and ambition, aggressive confrontations and arguments, self-centeredness, and ruthlessness around achieving one’s goals. Also, you have to be very careful not to get into heated arguments while driving, as this can lead to reckless behavior and potential accidents. I often find that accidents are a pinnacle of rage that bubbles up in arguments. So, if this happens, pull over and fight it out — but not while driving. Virgo rising, Capricorn rising, and Cancer rising may need to be most careful here, particularly if you have a Mars/Mercury association in your natal chart.
The association between the houses owned by Aries and Gemini will become more involved. That means the following rising signs benefit most: Geminis with gains of income and good energy from groups and friends because of the exchange between 11 and 1 but can create health concerns and issues around work as the 11th house is the 6th from the 6th.
Leo Rising because of the exchange between 9 and 11 bringing gains from
their father, Guru, foreign country, and travels.
Libra Rising because of the exchange between 7 and 9 bringing luck with
relationships or partnerships or partners in foreign lands.
Sagittarius Rising because the exchange between 5 and 7th bringing luck
with partners, children, and investments.
Pisces Rising because of the exchange between the 2 nd and 4th houses
bringing gains from real estate and property.
The other rising signs are more challenging because they involve the 3, 6,
8, and 12th houses and not going into detail but read Alan Annand’s book
on:
Parivartana Yogas. The good news is that the impact is only 2weeks in
transit.
If you are running a Mars/Mercury or Mercury/Mars period you will notice
the impact greatly if you were born with this yoga, it will kick in during
transit now.
Still, because Mars and Mercury are bitter enemies and it creates
quarreling, even those receiving gains may have to fight for them and be
left with a lot of anger.
So continue to be aware of whether a fight over some point is worth getting
into a heated argument. Mars when weak wants to be right for his ego and
that just leads to alienation so just drop it. How important is it to be right
and make your point at the cost of losing friends and getting all emotionally
upset? Â Â Opposite values and opinions can coexist in harmony.
The warrior poses for Mars will help balance it and the Cobra pose for
Mercury in yoga will help balance the situation.
Mercury stays a very long time in Aries because it goes retrograde April 21-
May 14th and it is an afflicted transit also as it is conjunct Rahu into April 6th
in the true node system and it also gets a sextile or 60-degree aspect from
Saturn into April 5th and both these aspects can mess up communications
and lead to deceitful communications so watch those spam ads that
promise the moon or those weird phone calls trying to get your money.
