MERCURY IN SAGITTARIUS: Nov. 26-Feb. 1st
Mercury goes into the difficult gandanta area or the emotional knot at the end of Scorpio. Nov. 24th-26 as it gets ready to transit into Sagittarius on Nov. 26th. The end of Scorpio, 27-30 degrees is called the stinger’s tail and is known as gandanta which means drowning. Mercury is there Nov. 24-26th and the Sun will be in that area Dec. 13-15th it can be an intense zone for a few days, particularly Virgos and Geminis. The key is to get in touch with the deep karmic subconscious patterns heal them and transform them. This transit will most impact you if you are Scorpio, Leo, or Taurus rising signs and if you have key planets 27-0
Go deep into the fear and recognize the illusion of it. You are safe and secure and no one or nothing can harm you. 99% of that which we fear never happens. The last 40 minutes of Mercury in Sagittarius on Nov. 26th is particularly intense. The next few days afterwards, Nov. 27-29th Mercury is the first 3 degrees of Sagittarius, is the Mula Gandanta where the material can unravel and the call is for deeper spiritual growth. Time to stay on top of your meditation and spiritual practice Nov. 24-Dec.1 to keep your center. Remember that this is a short transit and will pass quickly.
MERCURY IN MULA NAKSHATRA:
We get a double whammy with this transit with Mercury in the star constellation, Mula, (Sagittarius 0-13.20) Nov. 26-Dec. 10th and then again Dec 16-26 and again Jan. 7-20th ruled by karmic Ketu. Prash Trivedi tells us that Mula consists of nine stars at the end of Scorpio and is the place at the center of the galaxy, which Western Astrologers are fond of calling the Galactic Center as that wonderful part of the sky that looks like a white river in the night sky. Mula means “root” or “the center” and people who have a sun, moon, or ascendant lord in this constellation are very direct and do not like to beat around the bush. Still, it offers complex energy. This is the core of the galaxy and it is ruled by Ketu who wants to get to the core of everything: hidden motives, events, core roots. Ketu is connected to past lives and Mula wants to tie up all the talents from one’s past lives and bring them together. It seeks deeply for the truth of existence. Mula combines the energy of Jupiter and Ketu and hence it initiates spiritual transformations for the better. With Jupiter’s grace, it can confer magical powers to help those in need of Grace. Mercury’s entrance into Mula can bring deep intellectual insight and wisdom but can lead to a feeling of not being supported. The Galactic Center at about 4 degrees Sagittarius is also connected to whistleblowers so the Sun/Mercury conjunction on Dec. 20-22nd near 7 Sagittarius at that point may lead to some major players coming forth to testify about corruption. But then again, that is happening regularly these days.
Remember to do your spiritual practices and yoga to stay on top of your game when communicating. If it is not happening, rest, let it go, and be patient. Energy may not be there to push the envelope the next few days as Mercury is in the early degrees of Sagittarius. The cobra pose is good for balancing Mercury and the shoulder stand can sort out a confused mind so those may help this week.
GENERAL QUALITIES OF MERCURY IN SAGITTARIUS
Get ready for a big shift as Mercury gets connected with Jupiter by aspect and sign for over 60 days increasing optimism and supporting more positive communication. Because it goes retrograde Dec. 13-Jan 1st, it will retrograde back into Scorpio Dec. 29-Jan. 7th and that will be a difficult time as it will be in the difficult Gandanta area where emotional knots need to be untangled. (The next Mercury retrograde will be more difficult in the Aries gandanta starting April 1st and then retrograding back into Pisces through April 25th.)
Mercury the trickster and lover of comedy and games moves into Sagittarius on Sunday, Nov. 26th. . Its association with Jupiter by sign can bring out strong writing and it’s a good month for games. It is not very afflicted until Mars goes into Sagittarius on Dec. 27th and then they are separated by a wide orb until their conjunction on Dec. 28th. Jupiter will trine it exactly into Dec. 8th making the first week of December positive for shares of stocks, which are connected to Mercury. On the second pass, Jupiter will trine it at 11 degrees on Jan. 18th.
Retrograde Mercury conjuncts the Sun on Dec. 22nd which infuses it with Divine energy but because Mercury is behind the Sun in retrograde motion it is not considered a disturbing combustion although the exact conjunction can create a buzzy and busy mind.
Mercury and Jupiter are not friends, so this transit is mixed. There can be some trouble with concentration, higher education, and misunderstandings with superiors, teachers, or your father that may leave one feeling conflicted and doubtful. There could also be legal issues so this is not a good time to sign contracts. When Mercury is in Sagittarius, he acts unreliable and superior. So be mindful of your Mercurial manners and soften your blunt speech, don’t be a know-it-all, exaggerate, or think too much of your viewpoint. Instead, be respectful and lead by a respectable example. Being imprudent and living a lavish lifestyle at this time could lead to health problems related to the hips, thighs, breathing, and nervous disorders, if the dasha you are in is troubling for health or if you are Gemini rising.
This is a positive 4th house transit for Virgos and it is mostly unafflicted later in the month. Venus’ nakshatra of Purva Shadha (Sagittarius 13.20-26.40) Dec 10-15 and Jan 21-30th it will bring poetic and creative writing and good business development. Gemini rising will experience a difficult 7th house transit so karmic relationships that need closure could come up for healing. Virgos Sagittarius and Gemini will be impacted most by this transit creating complex situations in relationships, domestic life, and possible problems in the home with unexpected electrical problems for Virgo rising. This is of course always contextual to what dashes and Bhuktis you are running with Mercury/Jupiter and Jupiter/Mercury combinations being most impacted.
