EYE ON THE SKY: MERCURY RETROGRADE INTO SAGITTARIUS/MULA NAKSHATRA: SPIRITUAL AND INTELLECTUAL AWAKENINGS AND MATERIAL DISCORD
Mercury goes retrograde and into the challenging constellation of Mula from Dec. 29th-Jan. 20th and because it stations there on Jan. 8th, it stays there a long time. Our last quick visit there was Nov. 29-Dec. 8th so whatever issues you did not complete there will comeback for a revisit.
Mula consists of nine stars at the end of Scorpio and is the place of the center of the galaxy which Western Astrologers are fond of calling the Galactic Center as that wonderful part of the sky that looks like a white river in the night sky. Mula means “root” or “the center” and people who have a sun, moon or ascendent lord in this constellation are very direct and do not like to beat around the bush. This is the core of the galaxy and it is ruled by Ketu who wants to get to the core of everything: hidden motives, events, core roots. Ketu is connected to past lives and Mula wants to tie up all the talents from one’s past lives and bring them together. It seeks deeply for the truth of existence. Because Ketu is so close to Mars and Neptune, Mercury will be channeling some of the afflicted and complex energy. On Wednesday, Dec. 28th, Mercury is conjunct the Sun and the Moon is also in Moola and this will create a complex day of confusion and mental distress that will require lots of meditation and patience to deal with. Still for Geminis and Virgos, ruled by Mercury, the Divinity of the Sun can enhance your presence and stardom and create a condition called Cazemi that we have discussed before so you can shine at work or home.
The diety of Mula is Nritti, the Goddess of calamity and yet she resides in the lucky sign of Sagittarius which mythical means she may destroy ignorance to reveal deep truths. Ironically, Nritti is connected to the peak of material achievement and yet the nature of this nakshatra is very spiritual in her quest to go beyond the domain of ego and self-centeredness. Will be interested to see if our politicians change with this transit. This star can give power and influence and great material accomplishment and can confer magical powers but often it releases its energy in an explosive manner–which is so true of Ketu.
The 9/11 disaster occurred during the Ketu/Mars conjunction in this constellation and Mars has been connected to Ketu lately but softened by Neptune’s watery influence toning down the explosive fire. Hence it has a dreadful nature in bringing out the most explosive and darkest side of Ketu which means blowing up the material can point and force one to the spiritual.
Mula combines the energy of Jupiter and Ketu and hence it initiates spiritual transformations for the better. With Jupiter’s grace it can confer magical powers to help those in need with Grace. Mercury’s entrance into Mula can bring deep intellectual insight and wisdom but can lead to a feeling of not being supported. Still because Jupiter is still in Virgo and exchanging houses with Mercury, there is much more Divine grace for powerful intellectual insights and spiritual transformation.
Be patient on Dec. 28th-29th as Mercury is very close to the Sun and the other planets are pretty unhappy. Remember to do your spiritual practices and yoga to stay on top of your game and when communications just do not happen, rest, let it go and be patient. Energy may not be there to push the envelope the next few days. The cobra pose is good for balancing Mercury and the shoulder stand can sort out a confused mind so those may help the next few days.
