Jupiter in Pisces:  We’ve Got High Hopes!

Jupiter moves into its own sign of Pisces in mid-April and should bring a refreshing breeze of optimism and hope to our troubled world.  When Jupiter is strong and unafflicted in its own sign it supports financial development,  comfort, good family life, joy with children, good judgment; educational advancement,  positive outlooks, visionary outlooks, and strong nurturing and healing qualities.  It tends to increase our good judgment.   If your rising sign or moon sign is Pisces, Cancer, or Scorpio, you will particularly feel its benefits. For Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces rising it will form a Hamsa Yoga for powerful benefits for health, relationship, career, and happiness.

Jupiter takes 12 years to go through the zodiac and the last time it was in Pisces was May 2010-May 2011.  This time around, it is not an unafflicted transit as it stays very close to Neptune most of April and part of May. This conjunction is exact on April 12^th at the end of Aquarius and that conjunction last happened May 23, 2009, in the sign of Aquarius. The other time that Jupiter and Neptune were conjunct in Aquarius was March 16, 1856.

Jupiter/Neptune conjunctions happen every 13 years and if you were born with this conjunction, you are devotional pure-hearted, deeply religious, have strong faith, and are tender and compassionate, and tolerant.    You are highly imaginative and artistic and tend to be rather psychic and have strong healing abilities.

If Jupiter is afflicted by Neptune in your natal chart, it may bring up the darker energies which can promote poor judgment,  living in a dream world, and not being unable to act in the world.  One must be aware of escapist tendencies which at worst can lead to taking drugs or alcohol or doing spiritual retreats endlessly to escape the stress of the world,  It may also lead to difficulty to diagnose illnesses and allergies.

JUPITER AND NEPTUNE IN PISCES AND MUNDANE ASTROLOGY

 Jupiter and Neptune in Pisces may increase flooding particularly because the constellation of Purvabhadrapada (Aquarius 20- Pisces 3.20) is a water nakshatra and Neptune will be there until March 2024.  It can also increase wild speculative energy and I remember Jupiter in Pisces from Feb-June 1987 leading to a huge idealistic move in the US stock market which peaked two months later.

In Mundane astrology, the conjunction can support peace. In May 2009, following more than a quarter-century of fighting, the Sri Lankan Civil War ended with the total military defeat of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, In 1856, the Crimea War ended with the treaty of Paris.   We also have Jupiter conjunct Venus in late April and I have seen peace accords signed with this signature.  Perhaps Jupiter/Neptune and Jupiter/Venus bring hope for an early end to the war in Ukraine.

GENERAL QUALITIES OF JUPITER IN PISCES

Jupiter is a planet of expansion and Pisces tends to be ultra idealistic and hopeful given the state of our world, this transit promises a chance to expand our hearts and minds in great spiritual endeavors.

Pisces is the favorite zodiacal sign of the spiritual community. Ruled by the expansive Jupiter and in Western astrology also connected to Neptune, Pisces embodies the deepest qualities of the 12^th house and the quest for enlightenment and getting off the wheel of karma. It is a place of old souls and where karma is being completed. Pisces’ shadow wants to escape the world, having difficulty with being practical/grounded, and having difficulty with discrimination and judgment. Still, most of the time, Pisces people are great to be around as they are always filled with a deep love of joyful emotion, intuitive insights, and longing for completion. The key to this sign is service and service is also the key to the 12^th house. If our hands are busy, our heart is full and we can get out of our heads, then there is a chance for release.

The shadow side for Pisces is also a tendency to procrastinate, be unclear in thinking, lack confidence, and have trouble managing money and planning. An emphasis on Pisces can make people too sensitive to their environment and hesitant in pursuing love.

Planets placed in Pisces will have the blessings of Saraswati and be blessed with the love of knowledge and wisdom.

The Pisces soul is mystical, intuitive, and inspiring. Pisces people make great counselors and coaches as they are sympathetic and good at calming people down. Their unbounded generosity, excellent social skills, politeness, and charismatic nature make them beloved by many.

Jupiter in Pisces will promote love and expansion of wisdom, desire to study meditation, and increase our desire for knowledge and being in nature.

Jupiter in Pisces will also increase our compassion and connection with humanity and a time to develop more empathy for the suffering of those on the planet.  It is a year to learn that the world is our family and the people of Ukraine are just as important as the starving people in Yemen and Afghanistan, who do not receive as much attention.

When Jupiter is afflicted in Pisces we can develop a false sense of hope and stay up in the clouds rather than be grounded in reality.  It may miss opportunities for success, get lured into grandiose schemes, take on too many charitable pursuits, develop liver problems or have problems with weight gain.  Affliction to Pisces will happen this year when Mars goes into Pisces, May 16-June 26^th, and when planets oppose Jupiter from Virgo in the fall like Venus from Sept 24-Oct 18^th and Mercury from August 20-Oct 26^th.    Neptune is also afflicting Jupiter strongly in April and May.

Jupiter Retrograde in Pisces:  July 28-Nov. 23 2022.

Retrograde benefits are more powerful to do good and they will be particularly more powerful in Pisces.  Still, we always see marketing delays with Jupiter retrograde and we always have more opportunities to heal difficult issues in our life.
