URANUS STATIONARY/RETROGRADE THE FIRE OF SURPRISE
Uranus Retrograde: August 7, 2018 – January 6, 2019
As a Neo-Vedic astrologer, I pay attention to Uranus. Dennis Harness, in his article “Pluto: A Neo-Vedic View,” discusses the importance of the outer planets and Uranus stating:
“In comparing the Hindu mythology of these three planetary deities with the Uranus, Neptune and Pluto myths; there are many common themes and metaphors. For example, Prajapati is the lord of progeny and creativity. He “exerts his heat and duplicates himself” and his “divine voice sounds like thunder”. 3 One of the translations of Prajapati is Indra, the lord of thunder and lightning. A similarity to the planet Uranus can easily be seen. Uranus represents the Prometheus myth of bringing fire to earth, the bringer of change and innovation. Uranus is often associated with heat, lightning and thunder. He was also the father of Venus, the goddess of creativity. Narendra Desai felt that Uranus was a higher octave of Mercury, the god of creative intellect. He said that a prominent Uranus was often seen in the chart of a good astrologer.”
Uranus is a planet that embodies the Chinese curse: “May you live an interesting life.” Uranus brings genius, but its “standard bearers” (Edison, Watts, etc.) seldom succeed at higher learning — often, Uranus-ruled people have a hard time in University, though the IQ is 200 or 300!
Transiting Uranus retrograde is a yearly cycle which last approximately 155 days every year in which the planet moves four degrees backwards through the zodiac. This is a time of inner change in response to external changes in your life. If you planets close to 7-9 degrees Aries, 8 Cancer, 8 Libra or 8 Capricorn then the Uranus will have a more dramatic impact on your chart. If you have been seeking a major change in your life, then the Uranus retrograde may initiate internal change to help you make the outer changes. Often this will happen around personal freedom assertion at work or in relationship. It may incite rebellious or disruptive behavior to force radical change so watch the riots in Portland to increase as the tensions with the conservative/liberal battle intensifying.
Uranus rules revolutionary actions and humanitarian work so use the energy to initiate more charity and service work as rebellion could easily turn into violence and regret with the square to Mars/Ketu.
This planet rules electricity, shock, the nervous system (sometimes heart attacks) computers, inventiveness, social activism, revolt, friendship, humanitarian motives, eccentric behavior, alertness, genius and divergent thinking, gentle kindness and dictatorial tyranny. The last time Uranus entered Aries was 1933.
Uranus stationary in Aries is in a 4/10 square to Mars so unexpected explosions and fireworks are the types of things we see. The drone attack on the Venezuelan president on Sunday is the type of energy that can happen and we have to watch out for volacanic and earthquake activity to continue this week and the Indonesian earthquake was a huge demonstration of the power of Uranus.
Aries rules war, assertiveness, new growth, exploration, armies, fire, explosions, machinery and engines and so it would seem that military technology will get a huge boost over the next 7 years. That is not something we need. Clearly with Trumps $54 billion increase in the military budget, Defense stocks are a good place to park money and the military industrial complex makes sure they get used. With the US in a Rahu, the North shadow node related to technology, and the US major dasha period, it is clear that Nasdaq, which is leading the market higher, is still a long-term investment even if it has a correction coming and the Uranus station on August 7th may spark a huge surge and be followed by a sell-off shortly afters. I wonder if the car that drives itself, that is currently going through massive testing, will become a part of all our lives with this transit?
The Brexit came just after Uranus went into Aries. The transits in Mars during the vote were messy and very weak, making people angry. Venus was combust and too close to the Sun. Jupiter was conjunct Rahu within a degree and Uranus was a few days from going into Aries. These planetary transits created great emotional impacts, supporting a trend where I find that people are more emotionally charged when many planets are whacked.
On October 19, 1987, when the US stock market had a huge crash, Uranus was in the Gandanta, the karmic junction between the water sign of Scorpio and the fire sign of Sagittarius. On October 19th, 1987 when the DOW crashed over 500 points, a huge percentage for that era, it was at 0.0 Sagittarius. On June 27th, Uranus will be at 0.00 Aries again in another karmic junction point.
The EU is a total failure. This federalization of Europe is a deliberate Utopia for politicians with high paying jobs and tax exemptions. The people have no possible ability to ever vote for a policy change. This is the most anti-democratic structure ever thought of in Western culture. The rebellion is building in Europe and even George Soros cannot fund it enough to keep it from coming unglued.
If the oligarchy continues to get away with their power games, the Saturn/Pluto/Ketu/Jupiter conjunction into 2020 is going definitely force a major confrontation between democracy, government and power mongers who are out of control. For this year and a bit more, it would seem the shadow government will stay in control. Maybe, finally, Uranus fully in Aries, will allow larger change as we saw in 1933 – 1940 but it may only ultimately re-balance with another war. Lets hope consciousness can rise enough so that suffering does not have to repeat itself in history.
